I began this collage by drawing the figure in a life study session at the Art Center. I had previously added a number of collage elements to this piece of Yupo paper and drew into it with an ink squeeze applicator. Then I took it home and worked in more collage elements including text from an Israeli newspaper and textile-like papers from my collection. The face never changed much from the original drawing. I like the fact that it is difficult to tell if she has her eyes closed or if she is peeking from under her eyelids. There are another a pair of eyes in the design, not intentionally put there, but once there, I enhanced them to add to the meaning of the work. It suggests being tired, but also the necessity to stay alert.
