This is the first in a series of collages based on my experience of ancient cities. It started out as an exercise in how to do toner transfers in a mixed media workshop. The original transfer is a photo I had taken of the Hagia Sofia in Istanbul. To that I added a magazine transfer of a travel advertisement. It built from there with other bits and pieces of buildings from travel brochures. I like the feeling of it and have two or three others in the works, all beginning with an original photo transfer.
