I finished this collage rather quickly on top of an old one that wasn’t working well. I used Jonathan Talbot‘s technique of dry collaging with papers coated in polymer gloss. Applying heat with an iron seals the pieces to each other and the ground. I believe it the the collagist’s “alla prima” method, since once the pieces are sealed down there is not a lot of mucking about and second guessing to be done. I enjoyed the process so much that I think I will do a series of these abstract forests on 12″x 12″ boards.
I am entering this piece in the Rocky Mountain Collage Society Biennial Show at the Art Center in Grand Junction in September. It won an honorable mention.
It is for sale for $400.00
