magazine collage

I did this little (10″x10″) collage on top of another because I did not want to waste a beautiful 2″ cradled board.  I knew I wanted to use a lot of the magazine papers treated with Citrasolv, a natural product that serves to “melt” the printer’s ink.

I entered the finished product in a juried show called Small Work, Big Talent sponsored by Las Laguna Art Gallery in Laguna Beach California.  It got in!  The show is up from September 7th, 2013 through September 28th, 2014.

It is a more “edgy” abstract than I am used to doing.  I was responding to all the news of urban violence throughout the world.

This piece was also juried into the 2013 National Collage Society Annual Juried Exhibit and won me my signature membership in the organization.

This piece has recently been juried into an exhibit entitled “Mayhem” at The Gallery Underground in Arlington, Virginia.  The show runs through May 2014.
